"Bomb Blast at Palm Springs Fertility Clinic Leaves One Dead, Four Injured, Authorities Report"

Multiple media outlets reported on Sunday that authorities have confirmed the death of the person of interest in what the FBI is calling an "act of terrorism" targeting a Palm Springs IVF clinic.

The development was first reported to KTLA early on Sunday morning by an FBI spokesperson. Officials have not yet confirmed, though, if the deceased is the same person who was discovered dead close to a car that detonated outside the American Reproductive Centers (ARC) at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Explosion Outside Fertility Clinic Declared an Intentional Attack

The FBI later confirmed Palm Springs Mayor Ron deHarte's quick designation of the blast as "an intentional act of violence," categorizing it as terrorism.

As of Saturday night, authorities had identified a person of interest and were not actively looking for any other people suspected, according to Assistant Director Akil Davis of the FBI's Los Angeles field office.

The person thought to be responsible had posted "rambling online writings" before the event, reported to the Associated Press. In addition, according to sources, the suspect tried to record or broadcast the encounter, which finally led to their demise.

Suspect Identified as 25-Year-Old from Twentynine Palms

Investigators have provisionally identified the dead as a 25-year-old guy from Twentynine Palms, a law enforcement source told CNN. Because of worries about a potential secondary blast zone, residents in that vicinity were briefly evacuated on Saturday evening.

The law enforcement working in Twentynine Palms was later linked to the FBI's inquiry, based on verification from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. Authorities on the scene, nevertheless, provided little information about a potential connection to the Palm Canyon explosion.

No Clinic Staff Harmed, Critical Materials Preserved

At least four people were hurt by the car bomb, but ARC officials quickly verified that no employees were hurt. More significantly, it was revealed that every embryo, egg, and reproductive material kept at the clinic was secure and unharmed.

The explosion, according to authorities, was an isolated incident. While the FBI and other agencies conducted their investigation, the location was still sealed off as of early Sunday morning.
